“There’s been a lot of appointing going on around this state.
And perhaps that’s why the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform took a look at how Illinois compares to other states when it comes to replacing members of the General Assembly.
What the organization found and reported recently was that Illinois is one of just six states that have political parties name replacements to legislative vacancies. Half the states use special elections. Another 11 have their governors appoint. And in eight states, boards of county commissioners make the appointments.”
