“A roomful of candidates running for the Democratic nomination for governor met with party ward and township bosses today. Everyone seemed to have a fine time strutting their stuff.
But the real news broke over the weekend. That’s when, in a predictable but still unfortunate development, it became crystal clear that the race for the nomination and the later match-up with GOP incumbent Bruce Rauner will share one key factor: money. Big money.
Businessman Chris Kennedy contributed $250,100 to his campaign. That officially busts contribution caps in the Democratic contest, opening the race to even bigger dough, likely to come soon, not only from Kennedy but particularly from the soon-to-announce J.B. Pritzker.”
