The O’Malley administration’s attempt to buy a Maryland farm for $2.8 million and lease it to a campaign donor for a dollar a year raises an ethical red flag [“Criticized land deal dropped,” Metro, Nov. 13].

Regardless of whether this constitutes a corrupt act, the immediate negative response from the public and the reversal by the administration of Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) highlights a crucial point about voter sentiment and public perception.
