Campaign Finance Isn’t Bad Today. It’s Much, Much Worse.

Ed Rogers, a prominent lobbyist. put it the best. He wrote in the Washington Post, “I’m embarrassed by our campaign finance system. And as a long-time participant in the system, for me to get here, it must be pretty bad.”
It’s not just pretty bad. It’s really bad.
We can quibble over how it got this bad. Maybe it was the Citizens United case. I think it was the initial McCain-Feingold bill.
But in any event, the campaign finance system is now completely in control of the super-wealthy on both the left and the right.
