Chicago aldermen want to curb their watchdog (Editorial)

We’ve often wondered if Faisal Khan knew what he was getting into when he accepted the job as Chicago’s first legislative watchdog. Now we know.
“I cannot believe the third biggest metropolis in this country has operated in terms of ethics the way this body (the City Council) has,” Khan told the Tribune Editorial Board last week, not quite three years into his four-year term.
What’s missing, he said, is a “fundamental respect for oversight” that he found as an investigator and major crimes prosecutor in New York.
