Chicago Fair Elections ordinance is a “powerful anti-corruption tool,” says RFI ED Alisa Kaplan at press conference

WTTW covered a press conference for  Ald. Martin’s Chicago Fair Elections ordinance, which would create a small-donor matching public financing system for City Council elections. RFI Executive Director Alisa Kaplan spoke at the press conference and was quoted in the article.  

Kaplan said that the measure would “open the doors of our democracy to people of all walks of life” and would serve as a “powerful anti-corruption tool” by reducing “ the costly pay-to-play politics that Chicago has unfortunately become famous for and can taint the efforts of the city’s many honest public servants.”
