Court can speed the inevitable finalization of gay marriage

In the quest for marriage equality, the good news last week kept tripping over itself.
On Tuesday, when gay marriage bans were struck down in two more states, the news made barely a ripple nationally.
A major breakthrough, to be sure, but it couldn’t compare to the news of just the day before. That’s when the U.S. Supreme Court let stand rulings that legalized gay marriage in five states, opening the door for legalization in a total of 11 states in the same federal appeals court circuits.
