“The Foss Park District board has approved a deal that will replace the video-gambling machines at the Foss Park Golf Course in North Chicago with ones made by a company that employs its newest board member.
Last week, the board voted for HyperActive Gaming to replace Tap Room Gaming as the golf course’s video-gambling machine provider. New commissioner Anthony “Tony” Jones currently works for HyperActive Gaming, and had given a presentation to the board on behalf of the company prior to being picked to replace Susan Dixon, who was convicted of theft in March for stealing from a 2014 Toys For Tots charity event hosted at a district park.
According to Foss Park District Board meeting minutes, Jones spoke during the citizen comment period at a March 16 meeting, “distributed written information regarding HyperActive Gaming” and requested an opportunity to present more information at a future board meeting. Minutes from the April 20 meeting state Jones gave a copy of a proposed HyperActive Gaming contract to commissioners and lobbied for its approval.”
