“THE BUZZ — Fundraising numbers from the end of 2017 released Tuesday showed Chris Kennedy is starting off the new year with just $737,000 in his campaign account. That isn’t much money to work with in an intense run-up to the March 20 primary. Kennedy has never needed as much money as billionaire J.B. Pritzker, but he’s still fallen short of raising the $8 million to $10 million his own people have said he needs to win.

BIG BURN At 157 percent, Kennedy had the highest burn rate among the top-tiered Democratic candidates, according to the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform. That’s after going up with his first TV buy, paying consulting fees and staff.
