Gov. Rauner bans state employees from taking lobbyist jobs

State employees under the governor can no longer negotiate a job with a lobbyist or lobbying firm while working for the state nor take a lobbying job for one year after leaving the state.
The new restriction was part of an executive order signed by Gov. Bruce Rauner on Tuesday.
The order also expands a ban on gifts to state employees and their family members and requires that more information be disclosed on statements of economic interest.
“Business as usual has got to end,” Rauner said at a Statehouse news conference to announce the signing.
