How dark money contributed to razor-thin reelection victory for the only Cook County Republican official
RFI ED Alisa Kaplan spoke with Crain’s Chicago Business about the involvement of dark money in reelecting Cook County’s only countywide Republican and the need for Illinois to implement laws to address these mysterious donations.
“It shouldn’t be this hard for people to see who is paying to influence them or to get officials elected. We make someone who contributes $150 to a campaign give their name, but finding out who gave $300,000 through channels like these requires Sherlock Holmes and still often leads to a dead end.”
