Illinois a congressional battleground state
Via The Chicago Tribune
Two years ago, Illinois Democrats parlayed a new political map they drew and the final appearance at the top of the ticket by President Barack Obama to sweep out four Republican congressmen and reverse some of the losses suffered in the 2010 election that helped hand control of the House to the GOP.
This time around, two of those losing Republicans are back for rematches along the North Shore and Iowa border as the GOP tries to reclaim those seats and make new inroads elsewhere. While Democrats still get to run in districts they drew, they won’t have a home-state president leading the way as the party tries to maintain their 12-6 advantage in Illinois’ congressional delegation.
