Lobbyist Spending Up In 2015
Via Pekin Daily Times:
“Although the year is not yet over, Illinois lobbyists have already spent more money wining and dining public officials than they did in all of 2014.
Reports maintained by Secretary of State Jesse White’s office show lobbying entities in Illinois have spent more than $1.2 million so far this year on meals and entertainment, large gatherings, and other expenses that are required to be reported under the state’s lobbyist disclosure law.
Those same expenses last year totaled a little more than $1 million. Both figures are far below the nearly $1.9 million spent in 2011.
…
David Melton, executive director for the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform, said the numbers aren’t surprising given the November election of Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner.
“Whenever you get a change in administration, you see an uptick,” Melton said.”
