“Former state Rep. Frank Mautino maintained the flow of campaign contributions after he was appointed state auditor general in October.
The leader of a watchdog group is calling for him to return the money.
Mautino took $16,000 in donations between his Oct. 20 appointment and his Dec. 7 swearing-in ceremony. The contributions included those from the political action committees for the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois ($9,000), Realtors ($2,500) and credit unions ($1,000) as well as Exxon Mobil ($1,500), according to Mautino’s latest report with the state Board of Elections.”
