Morning Spin: Emanuel Heading to China

“A group of self-styled good government groups that is behind the Dec. 1 meeting of Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and the four legislative leaders is saying forget the public small talk and get down to resolving the Springfield stalemate.

In a letter to the five politicians, the groups rejected Rauner’s plan for him and each leader to each have 10 minutes of public discussion on their issues before closing the meeting to the public.

“Given the urgency of the situation, we encourage you to dispense with the hour of individual statements and proceed directly to a public and open discussion of the various comprehensive bipartisan budget proposals that have been recently released,” the groups said.”
