Need corporate tax transparency in Illinois
Via St Louis Post-Dispatch
Illinois corporate tax rates are not too high, and they do not stifle business. Our corporate tax policy is in fact too accommodating. Two bills now before the General Assembly could right that.
The Illinois Department of Revenue reports that two-thirds of the state’s corporations pay nothing to our state in corporate income tax: clearly, corporate tax dodging is rampant. Yet neither the public nor our legislators can know which corporations are paying and which are not. So we need HB3627, a bill to require publicly traded corporations to disclose how much they pay in taxes to Illinois.
