“MANCHESTER, N.H. — The first votes were cast Tuesday in New Hampshire following a final campaign blitz as candidates crisscrossed the state and leveled blistering attacks on rivals in a primary that appeared to set the tone for the wild nominating races ahead.

New York businessman Donald Trump, who has held a sizable lead in the Republican race in New Hampshire, appeared poised to win his first contest of the 2016 campaign after finishing second in Iowa a week ago.
