Presidential Race a Study in Contrasts

via The Boston Globe

“Although both Democratic presidential candidates performed well in Sunday’s debate in Flint, Mich., Hillary Clinton had a much stronger evening. Bernie Sanders seemed testy and at times was condescending to Clinton, particularly when she put him on the defensive over his support for the gun industry — and his lack of support for the bailout that saved the auto industry in 2009.

Sanders continues to be a single-issue, protest candidate who seems unable to pivot to any issue other than “millionaires and billionaires,” and America’s broken campaign finance system. Even in the opening question about the lead water situation in Flint, Sanders found a way to talk about income inequality and utter the key lines from his oft-repeated stump speech. In the end, nothing changed in the Democratic race. With Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, and Florida up for grabs in the next eight days — and with Clinton leading by double digits in all of them — she is still well on her way to victory in the delegate race.”
