Projects streamlining Cook County, state computer systems leads to ballooning costs, delays; RFI Senior Policy Advisor David Orr comments
The Chicago Tribune investigated three projects, all aimed at updating computer systems in Cook County and Illinois, that employed Tyler Technologies Inc. The contracts were originally priced at $75 million, but project costs have swelled to more than $250 million. RFI Senior Policy Advisor David Orr weighed in on the high costs and delays associated with the projects.
“There needs to be a very serious reckoning,” he said. “This has gone on for a long time, the payments ballooned and the county even had to put consultants over the consultants. Good government demands efficiency. It’s very troubling.”
