Quinn gets $1 million in late contributions

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s political organization kicked in $175,000 this week to Gov. Pat Quinn’s late push to try to beat back the election challenge from Republican businessman Bruce Rauner — part of more than $1 million in last-minute contributions from labor unions and other Democratic Party-aligned groups as the tight race enters its final weeks.
The latest campaign finance filings were reported as a new Chicago Tribune poll shows the race is a dead heat with the Nov. 4 election approaching. The poll found support for Rauner at 45 percent and Quinn at 43 percent, within the poll’s 3.5 percentage point margin of error.
