Quinn, Rauner spend $21 million on TV and radio ads in 3 months

Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn and Republican challenger Bruce Rauner combined to spend more than $21 million on TV and radio ads from July through September, state campaign records show.

Rauner raised and spent more than $20 million, including paying for $10.5 million in ads in the third quarter that ended Sept. 30. But Quinn spent nearly $11 million on TV and radio time during the same period, state records show, while raising nearly $8.3 million. Quinn began October with almost $4.8 million left and has raised another $1.25 million since then.
