“Lake County Circuit Clerk Keith Brin has spent at least $32,000 on food and trips across the country since taking office in December 2012, including a pricey visit to Washington, D.C., for a swearing-in by the U.S. Supreme Court and a bus tour, records show.
Brin, a Republican, has spent more than $23,000 on food since taking office in December 2012 and has spent at least $2,000 in membership dues to organizations such as the Lake County Bar Association, a News-Sun review of spending by Brin and his office manager found.
About half of the $15,000 spent directly by Brin went to breakfast and lunch meetings at local restaurants, records show. Brin also spent more than $9,000 on trips to conferences in Las Vegas and Breckenridge, Colo., and to visit other circuit clerk offices in New York, records show.”
