Reform Groups to Rauner: Keep The Meeting Open
Via Springfield State Journal-Register:
“Several government reform groups asked Gov. Bruce Rauner on Wednesday to reverse course and keep an upcoming meeting with the four legislative leaders public.
In addition, the groups said the governor should dispense with his plan to give each of the four leaders 10 minutes at the start of the meeting to air their views on the budget impasse and ways to resolve it.
“We write today to respectfully express our reservations with your plan to devote the first hour of the meeting to individual commentaries from the leaders and yourself ‘on the issues about which they feel most passionately,’ ” the groups wrote in the letter. “Instead, given the urgency of the situation, we encourage you to dispense with the hour of individual statements and proceed directly to a public and open discussion of the various comprehensive, bipartisan budget proposals that have recently been released.”
