“He was a lock for a Supreme Court nomination but never got his chance because of Jimmy Carter’s bad luck.
He worked at just about every level of local government for half a century and managed to survive with his good name and reputation for integrity intact.
Those are just two of my memories of the late Ab Mikva, counselor to presidents and a hero to generations of liberal politicians in this state, who died, maybe appropriately, on the 4th of July at age 90.”
