Weak campaign finance laws create problems for public officials
“This is the problem with weak campaign finance laws, and with a system where many elected officials depend on big donations to run their campaigns,” said RFI ED Alisa Kaplan. “Constituents can end up wondering if these decisions were made in their best interest or to boost officials’ campaign accounts. That can lead to a serious loss of trust in your government.”
Alisa spoke with WTTW as part of a story about developers who donated to gubernatorial candidate Richard Irvin’s mayoral campaign receiving tens of millions in Aurora incentives.
