Why uncontested elections are bad for our democracy

1 in 5 Illinoisans might not get a say in who represents them in the state legislature because of uncontested races in the June 28 primary. Kaplan identified a number of reforms that could increase competitiveness in Illinois, including digital petition signatures and public financing programs.
