Will ComEd Four guilty verdicts prompt ethics reform in Springfield?
Ethics and lobbying reform is attracting renewed attention in Springfield following the “ComEd Four” trial. RFI ED Alisa Kaplan was interviewed by the State-Journal Register about potential avenues for reform.
She called the 2021 omnibus bill “woefully inadequate,” but expressed support for some current legislative initiatives. Kaplan noted “that most states have at least a two-year waiting period for former legislators to become lobbyists. Another area for reform would be preventing lobbyists from donating to political campaigns.”
